Stuff to know

Here's some operational stuff to be aware of.
Garbage
-
Garbage collection is every monday; recycling is every other Monday.
-
Please don't load the bins with giant boxes. Be considerate: if you generate large waste items, take them to town and put in a bin there.
-
Certainly welcome to burn wood waste, but follow fire rules

Noise
-
Construction noise during the day is acceptable. Nights and weekends we often have campers and we all like to have some peace.
-
Please, no construction noise from 8pm to 8am, ideally longer.
-
Please, let's keep the music local to your campsite, not bleeding over to others.
-
Near the house will be a large mail kiosk to contain even large packages. Feel free to use the house mailing address, but do collect your mail regularly please.

Parking and Mud
-
This land doesn't drain that well, so we'll shore up muddy areas over time. Road gravel is not easy to come by after the hurricane, and isn't the only answer.
-
If it rains for 12 hours there's a real risk of a two-wheel drive car getting stuck. Park up by the barn and walk down to your site if you have a 2WD car.
-
I will have some tread boards in the barn: boards with lag screws in them, that can be put under tires for traction.
Overnight campers
-
Hipcamp campers love the creek area and make use of it through the spring/summer/fall. I've met some wonderful people and welcome you to do the same while respecting their desire for a bit of privacy.
-
Consider yourself a steward of the place: help other guests and residents when you can. Be careful not to take liberties and offer assets and services that are not yours to give (firewood, tools, etc.)
Fire
-
To get the latest fire risk level call â€(828) 250-6777‬
-
When the wind is blowing, don't risk it and don't let others put our property at risk. if the field grass catches fire, so could your tinyhouse or RV!

Insurance
-
Be smart. Have insurance on your home on wheels. Bad things do happen. Together we will try to prevent them, but sometimes things happen.

Rent
-
If you're paying monthly and arrive on the 6th, rent would be due on the 6th of the following month. Same for weekly rents.
-
If you need a few extra days, check with Reid about availability to do that. People do book in advance
-
You can pay via Venmo to @Reid-Manchester-1

Moving in and out
-
It is a terrible idea to arrive after dusk, please please don't do that.
-
We will arrange on your parking plcation in advance. Spots are marked on a map on other pages of this site
-
If rains have been heavy, turning the ground to mud, we may need to adjust your arrival date. We will work something out, it could be that you park near the barn until the ground firms up (a few days)
