Admittedly, it was a long road getting to the dream; a place that has a sense of community. People who support one another, who are helping one another achieve goals, and have some fun.
With the arrival of Brian Carroll, projects started to accelerate. A second set of hands, a smart mind, and a caring soul really set the place to grow. We started adding a second bath to the house, and built an entire apartment inside the barn. He got the old riding mower working after I was ready to strap TNT to it and watch it go up in smoke. We rented a trencher and ran water all the way to the RV pole and beyond, connecting the well to tenants down there. That was huge, and filling in the trench we did by hand (I look jacked now). We also had a load of gravel delivered to make the road more passable when the rains come. Another load will be needed.
Then Tiffany arrived with her tiny house on wheels and brought a real taste of community. Brian helped her install hurrican straps to ensure the strong winds through the valley don't tip her over (yes, that's a real risk!). She brought us tea and drinks while we slaved on the barn apartment. And most recently she organized a BBQ and movie night. Brian assembled the community grill and we grilled with our friends and guests followed by a movie projected on the barn wall!
Now that we're moving into summer we will see the Hipcamp campers down by the creek, which often brings new friendships like my buddy Hayes, who has become a favorite friend of mine. The creek water is the right temperature for a dip now, just don't drink it!
